ABOUT ME


Hello!

I caught the "training" bug when I started puppy classes at Dogsmart almost 13yrs ago.

All of my dogs' training has been through positive interactions, games, and loads of their favourite things in life. We've developed a rich system of communication using lure/reward and clicker training methods.

My training background:

*pro bono puppy classes at GVH, 2010-2012

*DOGsmart apprenticeship program to become a Dog Trainer, 2006. 

Training workshops and courses I have attended to name a few:

*DOGsmart.ca - Obedience classes; Puppy, Beginner, recall, CGN, Rally-O, Agility, Train and Play
*Clicker training workshops with Kathy Sdao
*Agility and Tricks courses with Sylvia Trkman and Susan Garrett
*K9 Nosework with Ron Guant, Nosework classes with Donna Toews of Reflections Dog Training


To round out my knowledge and continue my education, I completed DogSafe "Level one and two First Aid",  Karen Pryor's "Dog Training Foundations", Dr. Sophia Yin's "Low Stress Handling" recently.

The course which helped me put things together and I believe was most beneficial in coming up with behaviour change plans for clients, was "Living and Learning with Animals" course in Applied Behaviour Analysis with Dr. Susan Friedman, Behaviorworks.org .  It was easy to graduate with a Certificate of Honours, as she made the learning process enjoyable!
